An informal get-together at Tsukuba
A get-together was held in Tsukuba on March 19, 2013, for interaction of Indian researchers with Dr. G. Sundararajan, Director, ARCI, Hyderabad, who was visiting National Institute of Materials Science (NIMS), Tsukuba.
On invitation of NIMS, Dr. G. Sundararajan visited to extend collaborations with ARCI. Dr. R. Gopalan, Head of the ARCI Center for Automotive Energy Materials, Chennai, also visited NIMS supported by JSPS. Prof. A. Suzuki is from Yokohama National University, and currently the President of Materials Research Society of Japan.
Dr. Sundararajan and Prof. Suzuki are the coordinators of materials science division of DST-JSPS program from respective sides.
Also present were Dr. Naoko Kishimoto, Auditor, NIMS and a group leader and a senior researcher of NIMS, besides Dr. Alok Singh, Vice Chairman and Dr. Sunil Kaul, Chairman of ISAJ.
About 12 researchers from NIMS and other institutions participated in the get-together."
2012 ISAJ Symposium
India-Japan Symposium on “Frontiers in Science & Technology: Successes and Emerging Challenges”

The Indian Scientists Association in Japan (ISAJ) has organized the third India-Japan Symposium on Frontiers in Science & Technology: Successes and Emerging Challenges. High-level dignitaries, top-level academicians and emerging young scholars attended the symposium held on 20-21 September 2012. Among the dignitaries who spoke at the inauguration session are H.E. Ms. Deepa Gopalan Wadhwa, Ambassador of India, Tokyo, Prof. Takashi Onishi, President, Science Council of Japan, Prof. Yuichiro Anzai, President, JSPS, Dr. Chadaram Sivaji Counsellor, Science & Technology, Embassy of India, Prof. Sukekatsu Ushioda, President, NIMS, Prof. Yasuhiro Iwasawa, Univ. of Electro-Commun. Tokyo, Govindan Parayil Vice-Rector, United Nations University and Prof. Kiyoshi Kurokawa, Chairman, Health and Global Policy Institute spoke at the inauguration session. This year's symposium assumed great importance since it forms a part of celebrating 60 years of diplomatic relations between India and Japan.
The inauguration was followed by five scientific/technical sessions on (1) Life Sciences (2) Earth Sciences (3) Accelerator Related Sciences (4) Material Science (5) Space Technology. At the end of the symposium a panel discussion was held to discuss emerging opportunities to develop exchange programs for scholars of both countries and develop joint research projects.

Indian Scientists Association in Japan (ISAJ) organized an India-Japan Science & Technology Collaboration Symposium at the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science & Technology (AIST) Auditorium in Tsukuba on February 21, 2012 (Tuesday).

India-Japan Symposium on Global Challenges in Health and Environment
(Dedicated to the victims of the Great East-Japan Earthquake/Tsunami)

The Indian Scientists Association in Japan (ISAJ), organized its annual symposium on the topic of “Global Challenges in Health and Environment” at the auditorium of the Embassy of India in Tokyo on 7th October 2011. This was the second successful event of ISAJ after the launch of annual symposium last year that was inaugurated by the then Indian Science and Technology Hon’ble Minister Mr. Prithviraj Chavan.
The 2011 ISAJ symposium recognized the catastrophic damage to East Japan caused by Earthquake and Tsunami of March 11 2011. Therefore, in addition to addressing some issues related to this disaster, symposium participants observed a moment of silence in the honor of the disaster victims.
